Meanwhile, back at the ranch..
More American troops are going to soon be enjoying the comforts that South Korea's capable of, as the US presense is about to be increased. This, while a signal to North Korea that Iraq's not going to be much of a distraction, has been turned by Pyongyang with the customary alarm, accompanied by a chorus of 'you're trying to crush us..'
If there is concern over the use of nuclear weapons, it might be in this theater..
This, while the IAEA decides whether the Security Council should be advised to act against North Korea.
Back to Tony for a moment.. He's got such a day ahead here..
It's beginning with a good one.. a tete a tete with French President Jaques Chirac with Iraq the main topic for discussion. Now this is interesting to note. Tony's gone to France for this meeting, which will keep him out of the Commons for his potential 'humiliation'. But also of note is the diplomatic undertones. Britain and France are not exactly pleased with one another, with Britain slightly put out with France inviting Robert Mugabe for an official visit and all. France is very upset that Tony and seven other European leaders signed that expression of solidarity with the US last week, without even asking if France or Germany would like to add their John Hancocks..Tony has gone to France for this one day summit, as it's being billed. Mohammad to the Mountain, so to speak..
Ahh.. the other issue dominating the breakfast table this morning.. is the utter insanity of Michael Jackson. His interview with journalist Martin Bashir was aired last night, and one can only shake one's head. It was one of the saddest events of the television calendar tell the truth. Not that Michael Jackson or his music has been of note since the late 60's.. but it was akin to watching the denoument of a horribly tortured soul.. and that was pathetic..
What's that old Chinese curse...'May you live in interesting times..'
